Using Google Hangout

Recently we did a Google Hangout with a 1st grade class in our district as part of a collaborative project for my ETEP class.  It was very engaging for the students and helped us practice our speaking and listening skills. I enjoyed doing this project because I learned how to use google hangout in a classroom setting (at least how to get it to work!) as well as how to enhance a lesson I have already taught for many years.  For this project both classes read the same book: "Who will Guide My Sleigh Tonight?" by Jerry Pallotta. Both classes were presented with the same problem and then wrote about it. Each class made a digital book with their writing and we watched each other's books.  I was so impressed with the writing the 1st graders were able to produce and hopefully it inspired my students as well.  I know they were impressed that the 1st graders could write so much!

Welcome to Mrs. Ruzzi's Kindergarten Blog

Here is my first educator post!  I hope to find new and exciting ways to use a class blog with my students that will enhance their learning and provide a platform to engage in digital citizenship.
